Best of the web

A great collection of internet webby stuff as recommended by visitors to the Learn English Network.

Could be a web site, a Twitter feed, a Facebook page, a Google plus page, forum, video, basically anything on the net.

If you would like to recommend a site etc. use this form, or post the link on the forum.

Storyline online - Describes itself as a streaming video program featuring famous people reading children's books aloud, and that's exactly what it is!  Actors like Ernest Borgnine and James Earl Jones, read children's books, and these aren't like the kind of books and stories I have to share, these are current books still under copyright.  Oh to be famous.  But seriously, the whole experience is charming.

Crap days out has been chosen by hubby as the blog of the month for November.   You might be surprised at this tongue in cheek look at some of the entries of the worst places to visit in the UK:  From Stonehenge to Madame Tussauds, Shakespeare’s birthplace to the Harry Potter Tour, model villages to a museum dedicated entirely to pencils, Crap Days Out is the quintessential collection of places that will ruin a perfectly good British bank holiday.

We are recommending this English blog, which is called, believe it or not, The man repeller.  It might be just another fashion blog, but the aim of this blog isn't to show women what to wear, rather it's a guide on what not to wear, and I have to say it has some outrageous fashion mistakes.  If you want to know what a man repeller is, or what man repelling does, they provide a nice dictionary entrance.

outfitting oneself in a sartorially offensive way that will result in repelling members of the opposite sex. Such garments include but are not limited to harem pants, boyfriend jeans, overalls (see: human repelling), shoulder pads, full length jumpsuits, jewelry that resembles violent weaponry and clogs.
–verb (used without object),-pell·ing, -pell·ed.
to commit the act of repelling men:
Girl 1: What are you wearing to the party?
Girl 2: My sweet lime green drop crotch utility pants!
Girl 1: Oh, so we're man repelling tonight?
