Imagine following the lives of two people for over twenty years.

After one day together – July 15th, 1988 (the date is important), two young people Emma and Dexter meet at the University of Edinburgh.  Emma is from a working-class background, she is a woman of principle and ambition who dreams of making the world a better place.  Dexter is a wealthy charmer, born with a silver spoon in his mouth, who has graduated from an elite university, and thinks that the world is his playground.

Somewhere along their journey, these two people realize that what they are searching and hoping for has been there for them all along. Eventually they end up in London, and  the true meaning of that one day back in 1988 is revealed, as they come to terms with the nature of love and life itself, but will they get together before it’s too late?
For the next two decades, we watch key moments of their lives as they happen on July 15th over a period of 20 years.  Their friendships and fights, hopes and missed opportunities, laughter and tears. Again and again, they nearly come together again.

The book (see book of the month) gets 9 out of 10, the film is enjoyable.

Maybe watch the film, then read the book.
